Procedures / Treatments
Lasek
- LASEK with an “E” (laser epithelial keratomileusis) is a procedure in which a laser beam is applied directly to the eye's outer surface to reshape the cornea and perform vision correction. The ophthalmologist lifts the extremely thin epithelial layer on the surface of the eye; then applies the laser beam and places the epithelial layer back on the eye.
LASIK
- LASIK with an “I” (laser in situ keratomileusis) is an advanced laser vision correction procedure wherein the ophthalmologist makes a tiny flap on the surface of the eye (cornea), treats the inner tissue, and places the flap back onto the eye. LASIK is performed widely due to rapid healing and minimal discomfort following the procedure.
Epi-LASIK
– Epi-LASIK is a laser vision correction procedure that is sort of a cross between LASIK and LASEK but differs in a few key areas.
The difference with Epi-LASIK is that the ophthalmologist uses a blunt, plastic blade instead of a finer blade and does not use alcohol.
Epi-LASIK is ideal for people with lower myopia and flatter/thinner corneas. Also, it is great for those who have professions or hobbies that increase the chance of being hit in the eye (such as soldiers, police officers, boxers, and sports enthusiasts) who may find Epi-LASIK safer than LASIK because there's no risk of the flap being dislodged.
Custom Laser Vision Correction
- Your vision is unique. It is as individual as your fingerprint or your DNA. Custom laser vision correction is an advanced form of LASIK technology, based on WaveScan technology, that measures your vision 25 times more precisely than other conventional techniques, and provides a computerized treatment pattern that is customized to your eye.
WaveScan technology used by NASA for space exploration purposes, produces astounding results.. According to FDA data:
- Over 98% of participants obtained 20/20 vision or better;
- 70% obtained even better than 20/20 vision;
- ALL participants had vision good enough to pass a driving test
Benefits of Custom Vision Correction
Custom vision correction is offered at Infinity Laser Center PR, and offers many advantages over conventional techniques including:
- The chance to see even better than you would with glasses or contacts.
- Wavefront technology that measures your vision, its contours, and imperfections 25 times more precisely than conventional diagnostic tools.
- Night vision that is up to four times better than that achieved with traditional corrective procedures.
- Lower re-treatment rates.
- Automated tracking and centering, further enhancing accuracy.
- Takes less time with faster scanning capabilities, thereby preserving tissue and minimizing treatment time.
Iris Registration (IR)
Infinity offers FDA-approved automated Iris Registration (IR) technology, a non-contact method for performing the Advanced CustomVue procedure. IR correctly centers and aligns the treatment as well as compensates for any eye movement, providing a more precise treatment. By enabling a much more accurate alignment, IR provides a treatment that is safe, effective and accurate.
