- LASEK with an “E” (laser epithelial keratomileusis) is a procedure in which a laser beam is applied directly to the eye's outer surface to reshape the cornea and perform vision correction. The ophthalmologist lifts the extremely thin epithelial layer on the surface of the eye; then applies the laser beam and places the epithelial layer back on the eye.

LASIK

- LASIK with an “I” (laser in situ keratomileusis) is an advanced laser vision correction procedure wherein the ophthalmologist makes a tiny flap on the surface of the eye (cornea), treats the inner tissue, and places the flap back onto the eye. Epi-LASIK
